[Guide] Companies and Industries

Hello Miners!
I am excited to introduce a major overhaul to companies. As you already know, a company is a business with your name on it. You found one, you hire people into it, and now, it opens divisions in whichever trades you want to work in - brewing, bars, restaurants, supply chain, map art, real estate, construction. Same staff, same bank, same tiers, same vaults, seven different trades.

One company, one roster

Everybody in your company is staff of every division it runs.

You hire someone once, into the company, and they can work in all of it - the brewery, the bar, the restaurant, whatever else you own. There is no separate hiring for each side of the business, and no separate list to keep in order.

If you want somebody working only one part of your business, the system does not do that. They should not be in the company.

Founding one

/company create <id> <name>

F30,000 to the government, and you start at tier 1 as the CEO. The id is what commands use for divisions, and company management; the name is what everyone sees from the outside.

The ladder

Companies fall into six tiers. Each one costs money and needs a minimum headcount, and each one raises what your quests pay across every division you run at once.

Tier Name Cost Max staff Max bank Vaults Staff needed Quest bonus
1 Start-Up F30,000 3 F300,000 2 1 -
2 Small Business F150,000 4 F400,000 3 1 +5%
3 Company F250,000 5 F500,000 4 3 +10%
4 Partnership F500,000 6 F1,000,000 6 5 +15%
5 Corporation F750,000 8 F2,000,000 8 5 +20%
6 Monopoly F1,000,000 10 F10,000,000 12 10 +25%

F2,680,000 to reach Monopoly from nothing.

The quest bonus is the part people underrate. It is not per division - a Monopoly company running six divisions earns 25% more on all six. Buying a company tier is usually worth more than buying a division tier, and it is the first thing to check when a division feels slow.

Note: All existing companies as of today have been given F70,000 in company credits. these are used towards either company tiers, or industry tiers.

Roles

Role What it can do
CEO Everything, including rename, transfer and disband
Executive Invite, kick, promote and demote below their own rank, buy tier upgrades
Trusted Withdraw from the bank as well as deposit
Member Deposit, work quests, use unlocked vaults

An Executive or the CEO runs /company invite. The invite lasts an hour and the other person takes it with /company accept. If you are already at your tier’s headcount cap the acceptance is refused - buy a tier first, then hire.

The bank and the vaults

The bank takes deposits from anyone and pays out to Trusted and above. It is capped by your tier, and anything above the cap overflows into the CEO’s wallet rather than disappearing. Disband and the whole balance goes to the CEO in one lump.

Vaults are shared storage, opened with /companyvault. They cost nothing - the number you get comes with your tier, two at Start-Up and twelve at Monopoly. Lock one to Executive-and-above if you want somewhere the whole roster cannot reach.

If a vault ever looks wrong when you open it, close it and tell staff before you put anything else in. There is a restore tool and it works far better the sooner it is used.

The seven industries

A division is a department inside your company. Each has its own six-tier ladder, its own quest board and its own requirements to climb.

Industry Command How you open one Payouts split
Brewery /brewco Ask staff By contribution
Bar /barco Ask staff Evenly
Restaurant /restco Ask staff By contribution
Supply Chain /supplyco /supplyco register By contribution
Map Art /mapco /mapco create Evenly
Real Estate /reco /reco register Evenly
Construction /buildco /buildco register Evenly

By contribution means a quest pays out in proportion to who actually did the work on it. Evenly means it splits across the whole company roster when the quest completes. Neither is better; they suit different trades. A brewery where one person brews everything should pay that person. A bar where the building is the business should not.

A bar is a place

Your premises are a region staff register for you, and two things inside it count as a drink served: one somebody drinks there, and one you sell them over a counter shop. Sell by the shulker and the drinks inside it count.

So build somewhere people want to be. A bar nobody drinks in serves nothing, however good the stock - which makes this the one trade where the building genuinely matters.

Brewers and bars need each other

A bar past Tavern rank must have a linked supplier - a player brewery of a minimum tier. It cannot reach the top on government lager.

The trade is an ordinary shop sale: the brewery sells stock over its own counter, the bar buys it, and their drinks become the bar’s house selection. Real bottles, real money, and it counts for both sides. From tier 4 a brewery’s own ladder starts asking how much it has supplied to bars, so this is not a favour either party is doing the other.

Find a bar owner before they find another brewer.

A restaurant is its premises too

Same idea: staff register your regions, and a meal shop has to physically stand inside one. A shop in a warehouse across the map counts for nothing.

One sale credits up to eight meals however big the stack, and selling by the shulker counts what is inside the box.

The division ladder

Every industry runs the same shape: six tiers, each with a fee and a requirement, each raising the reward multiplier and the number of quests your board carries.

Tier 1 is free in every industry. You pay only when you want to climb. Ranking up needs the fee and the stats - drinks brewed, meals served, maps sold, contracts finished, whatever that trade counts.

A division can never be more than one tier ahead of its parent company. If an upgrade is refused and you have the money and the stats, this is almost always why. Check the company tier first.

Bars work differently from the rest: you request the upgrade and staff approve it, and the fee is charged at the moment they approve rather than when you ask. Every other industry you simply buy.

Running all seven to tier 6 costs F2,915,000 in division fees on top of the F2,680,000 for the company. Call it F5.6 million to own everything, which is not a target so much as a way of saying you are meant to specialise.

What Construction covers

Everything built to order: buildings, demolition, paving, railways and subways, all under one firm. It is the one trade with no shop and no crop - every Forsal it earns comes from contracts finished for other players, which makes a firm’s tier a literal record of work done.

Earning

Quest boards

Every division carries a rolling board of daily, weekly and monthly quests drawn from that industry’s pool. Finish one and the government pays your company, split by contribution or evenly depending on the trade.

What a quest pays is the base reward, multiplied by your division’s tier, then by your company’s tier bonus, then by any industry boost running at the time.

Personal boards - no company needed

Brewery, restaurant, supply chain and real estate all run public boards open to anyone. Your own quests, completed by you, kept by you. They pay 75% of the company rate and get no tier or company bonus, but they cost nothing and need no partner. They are in your journal.

/hmquests

This is the answer to “I do not want to run a business, is any of this for me”. Yes. Start here.

There is a ceiling on quest earnings

Quest payouts are capped per player, per industry, per period. It is what stops one person farming a single quest type all month, and you will only meet it if you are genuinely grinding one trade hard.

Trade income is not capped the same way. Selling drinks to the government shop is a sale at a posted price, not a quest, and it is deliberately outside the ceiling. So are contract payouts, cargo port pay, roleplay wages and the demolition bonus. If you have hit a wall on quests, that is the system telling you to go and do something else for a bit - and there is plenty else.

Demolition licences

Construction firms earn a demolition rank automatically as they finish demolition contracts. No fee, nothing to buy, it promotes itself.

Rank Demolitions Bonus on every demolition contract
Licensed Wrecker 3 +5%
Demolition Crew 15 +10%
Controlled Demolition 40 +15%
Site Clearance Ltd 100 +20%
Master Wreckers 220 +25%

The bonus is paid by the government into your company bank, on top of what the client already paid you. Knocking things down has never been this worth doing.

The map art gallery (Coming Soon)

Quarterly contests, open to companies and to individual players. Three categories - Single Canvas F5,000, Multi-Map F10,000, Grand Piece F20,000 - one winner each, submitted with /mapgallery submit.

Separately, the government will pay a flat fee to borrow a finished piece and display it publicly: F3,000 for a single map up to F20,000 for a ten-map mural. You keep the copyright. Any given map can only be paid a loan fee once, so it is a reward for making something new rather than a stream.

Where to start

If you have never run a business here: work a few personal quests from /hmquests, take a contract or two off /contract, and see which trade you actually enjoy before you spend F30,000 on a company.

If you already have one: run /hmco, check which tier you are on, and look at what the next company tier costs against what it adds to every division at once.
