[Guide] HM Quests, Intro Runs, and Odd Jobs

Hello Miners!

Alongside the companies and industries update, we are also introducing a new set of quests, and an additional quest system. The goal is to be one place to find every job custom job and quest on the server, and it remembers what you have done!

Intro quests

Short guided runs that teach you one system by walking you through it. There is one for brewing, bars, restaurants, supply chain, real estate, map art, contracts and the cargo port. They pay, but the point is not the money - the point is that you come out the other side actually knowing how the thing works, rather than having read a wiki page and forgotten it.

If you are new, or if a system launched while you were away, start here. They take a few minutes each.

Industry quests

Every industry has a board of daily, weekly and monthly work. If you run a division, its board is your company’s. If you do not, brewery, restaurant, supply chain and real estate all run personal boards open to anyone - your own quests, completed by you, kept by you.

The personal boards pay 75% of what a company board pays and get none of the tier bonuses, which is the tradeoff for needing no company, no partner and no fee. They are a perfectly reasonable way to play.

Odd jobs

Nine shift-work jobs scattered around the map. Walk up to the shopkeeper, take a shift, serve the customers, get paid. No company, no tier, no setup.

Job Customers Pay
Courier Run 5 F130
Sushi Bar 4 F110
Tavern Service 4 F100
Diner 4 F90
Florist 3 F90
Market Stall 4 F85
Cafe 3 F80
Bakery 3 F75
Ice Cream Parlour 3 F70

Each player can complete one shift per job per day. Take a parcel or meal, find the person who wants it, hand it over. It is not complicated and it is not meant to be - this is what you do on a slow evening, or on your first day when you own nothing.

Tracking

Pick a job from the board and it goes on your action bar: what you are doing, where it is, and how far away. Follow the arrow. Click the same job again to stop tracking it.

If the quest moves you on to a new target, the bar moves with it. You should not need to keep the journal open while you work.

The things worth knowing

Your shift survives a logout. If you disconnect mid-round, the round is still there when you come back. Wander off for six hours and the shopkeeper writes it off as stale, but a dropped connection does not cost you a shift.

Odd jobs have a cooldown, industry quests have a period. A shift is once a day per job. Industry quests roll daily, weekly and monthly, so there is always something on the board even if you cleared it this morning.

Quest payouts are capped per industry, per period. You will only meet the ceiling by grinding one trade hard. If you do hit it, that is the system telling you to go do something else - and there is a lot of else.

If a quest completes and nothing arrives, tell staff rather than repeating it. Almost everything here is logged and almost everything can be put right, but repeating a payout that looked like it failed is the one thing that makes it hard to fix.

High-Level TL:DR

/hmquests is the journal and /hmjobs is the hub that gets you to it alongside everything else. /hmguide explains the systems the quests are teaching you.
