Suggested Rules Addition (Apartment/Region Rules):
Due to current Agora eviction notice and previous circumstances where whole buildings have been wiped rather than resold, this has raised an issue of tenants and sub-region owners. The current rules do not define what happens to tenants or sub-region owners when the owner of a parent region is evicted. Players need protection from adhoc decisions with no precedent being set.
1. Protection for tenants and sub-region owners
If the owner of a region is evicted or otherwise loses ownership, any active player who is not the owner and who rents or owns an apartment, store, or other sub-region within that region will not be automatically evicted as a result. These sub-regions will remain until they independently meet the applicable inactivity or eviction requirements.
2. Auction guidance
A region containing apartments, stores, or other occupied sub-regions may still be auctioned following eviction of the parent region, provided prospective buyers are made aware that existing tenants and sub-region owners will retain their rights under these rules.
3. Prevention of abuse
Where City Management, or in their absence Staff, unanimously agrees that apartments, stores, or other sub-regions were rented or transferred within the fourteen (14) days immediately preceding the eviction of the parent region for the purpose of preventing its removal, those tenancies or transfers may be voided, and the affected sub-regions may also be removed.
These additions protect legitimate, long-term tenants and sub-region owners while preventing players from abusing the rental system to block the eviction or removal of inactive buildings.
As players cannot put forward or vote on rules, I urge staff to consider this at their earliest convenience before discussing Agora’s eviction.
