Suggestion: Remove KeepInv and GTC.

How does this solve anything? Itll just make it harder for poorer and newer players. The rich arent affected because theyre geared up really well, and if they do die theyve got enough money to just buy back their gear. What is the point of removing keepinv??? Like thendil said, focus on the real problems, not bullshit like this please. “Make these players stay”

I haven’t seen a single proper argument against these measures apart from Thendil’s suggestion to do something about empty plots which isn’t an argument really just a good suggestion.

This is the problem with this server y’all want a good economy and new players to stay but y’all want fuck all to be done to achieve that because it personally inconveniences you and we can’t have that can we? Nooooo we need to be pampered.

I mean is it annoying for a new player to lose their shit when they die? yes but it’s also annoying for a rich player to lose their shit when they die which can happen when you don’t carry a totem. Not to mention there is also stuff like vitamins and bandages, which are stackable and instantly heal you upon consumption so it’s not like we’re leaving players with no choice.

So with the annoying part out of the way, lets look at the benefits.

  • Increased spending on resources like diamonds, tools, food, items like mentioned totems
  • We bring back some risk to the game which isn’t there at all these days
  • When a newbie joins what’s the first thing they usually do? go mine shit in resource world or anywhere else and expecting to sell it but when they try to do so they always end up with chests being full because no one needs resources. We need to have a player-activity based economy again and this a step towards that.

You clearly haven’t read the bit where everyone says “this would be catastrophic for new players”.

It’s one of those topics where there are a huge amount of arguments for and against.

Imo nobody here has the servers best interest in mind when discussing this.

Exactly,

Losing all your shit in MC is the no.1 biggest rage quit cause, and if you’re new and can’t just buy all that stuff back, they’re all going to quit once they die.

Imo Horizon awards relies too much on keepinv due to the amount of times I almost died running it XD

i cant change my vote but if we disable keepinv then the things you use to prevent losing your inventory cost money which hurts new players more

Admit defeat

Is it possible to have keep inventory turned off in the wild, and then turned on when you enter a city? If so you could encourage people to live in cities a little more with that (would also probably prevent people from just trying to kill each other in the cities)

i mean tbf if this was like an smp or something i’d agree but it’s pretty loaded with millionaires while starting bal is only like 5k so i think that it would probably only advantage the rich in this and i hate rich people :-1:

i dont think worrying about having a “good” economy would exactly fix our issues, i think these sorts of suggestions don’t get implemented because we don’t even have the playerbase to show actual change in the economy (this is to both sides btw). removing warps gave people a more level playing field but i cant say it really did help the economy as was prospected, and whilst i do agree with the decisions personally, in the grand scheme of things our average playercount is still at like 5

so the focus really should just be to make this as fun for the players as we can. if you joined a server averaging like 5-10 players that are way more loaded than you and you had no idea what to do except to mine, you’d be pretty bored. if you want an economy server, one that really emulates the true experience of capitalism in the most optimal way possible, you won’t be receiving many players. i personally just see it as a big smp tbh atp, an economy-based server, without the history/legacy HM has, wouldn’t be able to survive.

back to the point tho, again im sure satan cares abt hm just as much as anyone here does, so absolutely no disrespect to him, its just different perspectives to where hm should go from here and i’m glad to see the community engaged in suggestions, i personally love seeing how something can improve always (i just personally think now is more of a time to focus on increasing playerbase than smaller economic/social decisions like these) that’s why i disagree with “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it” (although thendil did make some good points). there is always an opportunity to review something and make it better :+1::+1: in conclusion make it more fun pls and lets revive this server :kissing_smiling_eyes:

sorry btw for writing so much i always write essays when im invested in something like this

Inflation

There is no inflation in the general economy just in personal wealth due to plugin mishaps and maybe a lack of counteracting measures to this in the past as well as lots of opportunities being available due to a lack of competition from other players. Also lots of people getting rich off the casino. Everything’s deflating, plots are getting cheaper, goods and services are getting cheaper. The economy is getting smaller and all of these problems are essentially due to the lack of player count.

Some servers have it so you lose like 5% of your bal everytime you die, why not suggest something like this instead? Even that would be unpopular though.

Item Break Warning
I don’t see how having this really impacts negatively on anything in any real way so I don’t see any real need to remove this.

GTC
Just because you don’t use GTC doesn’t mean nobody else does. It has also been poorly managed by government by removing lots of vanilla stuff from being sold and prices changed to being really low, and has even undercut private shops in the past. Just needs to be managed properly and I believe staff are already looking into this.

Some Outcomes

  • Your inv wipes every time you fall to your death on a massive build job.
  • New players getting murdered in their shacks in the wild by mobs whilst rich players sit in their mansions laughing.
  • If keepinv off even just in the wild, there will be a rise in players being murdered.
  • Increase in rage quits and lack of player retention. No reason to stay if can’t retain initial attempt at gaining wealth.
  • When shops get fully stocked or closed there will be no GTC to fall back on to sell to.

Then people move their bal into other assets. People will open up private banks and transfer money to inactive accounts or into city expansion land where there is full refund to sell again

Low durability script makes the game easier. Theoretically if we are making changes to increase difficulty, this would go too but I think it’s been brought up because someone has realised it’s a script I wrote and therefore should cause me some kind of grief to see it removed (which I couldn’t really care either way I made it for vita).

I’d be for removing it if it was bundled in a long list of changes to be made for the servers benefit but that’s a level too high of competence for anyone to achieve right now.

Okay. Now how do we fix the item/economy market and stimulate demand for commodities without removing keepinv.

You remove keepinv, then you also have to remove soulbound armor, and totem of undying. That’s the only way you can fix that in the keepinv route

since the voting has now become pretty split at 30 votes, if we could hold a second round of voting just with the options

  • Don’t Remove anything
  • Only remove GTC
  • Only remove keep inventory

So then we can take a look at what people are thinking about what seems to be the three major opinions

Yeah voting coulda been worded better imo

GTC:
24% Remove, 76% Keep

Keepinv:
24% Remove, 76% Keep

Item Break Warning:
20% Remove, 80% Keep

It’s just server population and only recently we got to a good place with the community with most of the toxic players either having left, matured or don’t play much/often anymore. At this point there’s only 2 choices really:

  • Partner with a popular mini-games server that has a hub
  • Advertise with money gained from perks from the store

On the whole Minecraft servers are pretty much dying. There’s too much competition with box servers and most people play the big servers like Hypixel. There are players out there looking for the most recently updated servers though and they do exist but it’s just about getting the message out there.

A lot of the server could be advertised on social media, featuring builds on youtube/insta/planet minecraft. Updated guides and youtuber videos and streams. I’m sure I could go on but you get the point.

I do want to point out that when you add the IP for the server it just says 1.17.1. This really needs to be based on accessibility imo i.e. 1.8 - 1.18.2 or whatever it is in viaversion/viabackwards.

This is true. If we had access to premium money to fund advertising that would be great honestly but we still have problems with the store and it’s all up to Tedde at the end of the day with what that money goes to.

Advertising doesn’t take that much effort and I think once we have an engaging variety of gameplay options for players can we begin to focus on that. I loved making videos for things like ironball and was really passionate for it so I can always pick up filmmaking on the server if need be and get some good content going whether it be trailers or tutorials or whatever.

Also the reason I’ve put 1.17.1 is due to the fact that we don’t have the features of newer updates so it would look misleading, but i can word it differently to say we are 1.18 accessible.

hi hello i vote no on removing keep info because of rares. why not just provides death penalty.

take like 100F for each death or have it stack. idk if that is possible. like if you die once it’s 100F if you die again within 5 minutes do 200F and have it go up to 500F until it resets.

i just don’t want to die and lose my rares that i carry around/wear. but i wouldn’t mind paying a fee for using /suicide or dying - it’ll encourage armour sales and food sales.
