Yeesh, I’m gonna be honest, I didn’t expect to get this far…

Hi, I’m NarwhalsRcool, and as of July 17th 2025, I’ve been a member of a minecraft community for 10 years straight.
Saying that is genuinely both exciting and mortifying. For ten of my limited years on this earth, I have spent countless hours around a place and a community that physically doesn’t exist. Sounds sad when you look at it that way, huh?
But to be honest with you, when I look at it that way I can’t help but smile. Because the way I see it, I have had the opportunity to spend 10 years doing exactly what I wanted to do. Ten years of exploring the visions of others, of meeting genuine friends who I still get to talk with, of making memories I still treasure today, and ten years of building a world that wasn’t just mine to enjoy.
Not everybody gets 10 years y’know? I’ve seen countless people both in game and out have to leave the things that bring them joy because of responsibility, because of relationships, or because they just ran out of time. But I got to spend this much time, a literal decade, with the ability to come right back to the place that sparked a whole new chapter of my life.
Sounds pretty nice when you look at it that way, huh?
I’ve told my story of how I got started on HM dozens of times, and my most notable accomplishments have been shown in the videos I post every couple of years (but if you’re that curious, look up my wiki page :P). So to make this post a reasonable size and to avoid retreading the same ground, I’ll focus on this.
For the last year and half, I have had the distinct honor of being an admin for HM. Something I kid you not, I wanted to be more than anything way back when I first joined. I wanted to be a part of something bigger than I was, even if it wasn’t that big when I got the job. And I gotta say, even though it’s been rough, with workloads that were meant for entire teams and problems that didn’t have easy solutions, it’s everything I ever could have hoped for.
You guys are what make this server what it is, and being able to work with you all on anything and everything has only made me grow to appreciate this server for what it is even more. And the more I dwell on it, the more incredible it is to me.
We are a collection of thousands of people who have joined together to make a world of our own. We’ve built cities and nations, monuments and gathering places, an entire culture that is solely our own, and we did it all for no reason other than the experience of creation. There was no incentive, there was no reward, and there was no end goal to aim for. Just making these amazing places, these interactions and moments, all for the sake of creating.
We have made something both universal and yet totally unique, crafting thousands of individual experiences made from millions of choices that all lead to this moment in this one single place.
This place, while digital, is one that has touched us all in a way that no other experience will ever be able to replicate. One that has outlived hundreds and may outlive us all.
And to think, I got to be a small part of that amazing experience for 10 whole years.

Thank you all for being a part of this incredible journey. Whether I’ve met you or not, you helped shape the place that helped shape me. I wouldn’t be who I am without you.
