Increase the render distance to 16

8 is laughably low for HM, and limits most users who don’t use mods like Distant Horizons (which instantly crashed my laptop). If we want to truly appreciate the scale of cities having a render distance of 16 should be the minimum.

omg yes pls

I have taken your suggestion into account and increased the render distance. I have implemented a variable render distance system, so when the player count is less than 3, the render distance will be 32. However as player count increases, the render distance will decrease. It will drop down to 8 as we reach about 20 players. For most of the time, the render distance will be above 16 on the server.

The reason why we have to have a lower limit with more people online is due to server performance. Ideally we can tweak the settings on this latest script to optimize it.

Can this somehow be said on the host?

I have mine set to 11.

I take this back. Lag is cray!

I checked it myself, it didn’t affect the host in any way

Its server side render distance. It just sets the maximum distance you can render. Just increase your render distance.

Ultra has experience with pokiesreal???

If we have it like this, events, minigames, and the like will need to be moved to a separate server as every time render distance changes, it causes a few seconds of lag, and that means issues like people falling off ledges in dungeons when they’re doing parkours like the Christmas one in the dungeon (wasted rare dungeon key then), skywars, etc. Also, I’ve fallen a few times because of it when building.

If there was a way to make the render distance change smooth, it would be better, but running a command on certain logins based on player count is a hard change on the server experience of its performance.

I don’t know if plugins like View Distance Tweaks managed to get around that or if any others have, but it would be interesting if they have.

I can make it happen way less frequently its not an issue, maybe view distance tweaks would be better than a denizen script
