Hello, Miners!
It’s been awhile since we’ve had a community update and I would love to let everyone know where the staff team has been lately and what we’ve been working on. We are committed to the community and want everyone to know that the server isn’t going anywhere, and will continue to be there for you.
We have been talking and making plans on how we want to address the latest player counts that have been slowing over the last two months. A few points we want to bring up is the new player experience and player retention.
One of the biggest problems with HM, is its low search visibility online, in the past we had a lot more people voting which lead to more players seeing our server on the front page of server listings. It’s my opinion that we need to dial things back a notch and look at voting as a whole, along side the new player experience to make sure things are as streamlined as possible. More on that below.
Easter Event
For the first time ever, a brand new easter event has found itself across the entire server! Travel to far away lands, government cities and landmarks to collect all 120 Easter Eggs! Each egg will award you a new type of reward, a Lucky Block! These lucky blocks can be opened for a random reward, crate, rare, money or if you’re lucky, a vehicle! The regular crate, super crate and ultra crate, all share the same loot table, however the odds of getting a crate or money are reduced in the super, and ultra crate. It is also 2x and 3x as likely to get the car, in the super and ultra crate.
It’s about roughly a 1% drop to get the car, in the regular crate, and a 2%/3% in the super and ultra crates. These crates are guaranteed to continue to work years in the future, and will remain working for those who wish to keep their presents sealed.
The event will continue until the end of April.
New Shorter Server Commands
In anticipation of future server side updates a new shorter command system has been implimented to take you between build, and the economy server. Simply type /b, /build, or /e, /eco, /economy to get between build and main. More aliases can be added with minimal effort so if you had a good one, let us know!
1.20/1.21
We are tracking the progress required for updating the server, unfortunately slimefun is holding back and has not released a stable version yet. As soon as slimefun releases a stable build we will be able to update, everything else has been prepared. The only other thing we will have to wait for, will be fluffymachines or as you know them fluffybarrels, the developer for the plugin has become inactive, however all of the code is on the github, kili might be able to update the plugin to get it working for us, if we are unable to use fluffybarrels going forwards everyone will have enough time to empty them before we update to 1.20 or 1.21.The Future of Voting and Server Onboarding
This is currently a work in progress and isn’t quite ready to share, however a new tutorial is being worked on, along with the infrastructure needed to onboard players more smoothly. We dont have a timeline on this as we need it to be perfect before we start rolling things out, but hopefully we can do this at the same time as the 1.20/1.21 updates.
When we push this voting/tutorial update, voting is going to matter a whole lot more and we need to balance rewards to make sure that everybody votes to give HM the best chance of revival possible. If you’re not already voting dont worry, the plan will be to cut back on the 9 voting sites that we have, join the new and official minecraft server list, and stick to a top 3 approach. If we can get people voting at this point, after the tutorial is ready, then we should be in a good position to onboard new community members. We will be talking with members of the community to find out what rewards would incentivize people to get the ball rolling.
The Shrine Update + Assassination Quests
4k606 has been hard at work delivering quality updates to the server. We entirely and completely appreciate the work he has put into making HM a better place and cant wait to see what happens next!
Multiple shrines have had a version 4 rework, you can now visit the Pirate Bay, now with an updated Pirate Boss, new Buccaneer Armor, and a fresh Pirate Cutlass Sword as well as other new rares you can find here.
The Forest Knights Hideout has recieved a rework, along side a stronger, and more updated boss, updates to other shrines and quests relating to them are on their way!
The new Monthly Assassination Quests are now here! There will be 3 contracts you have to eliminate. Antonio Coponigro, Salvatore Maranzano, & John DiTrapini. Each of them has wronged one of the 3 mob bosses that rule North Helloclan, from insurrection, to money laundering, to being an arch rival. It is your job to claim the bounties above their head. I will be adding more similar Crime themed quests to North Helloclan in the future. Pays F5000 To start the quest do /quests and accept the assassination quest.
Return to the Unknown!
The Unknown Island will be opening sometime later this month.
The haze surrounding the Unknown Island has been lifted, though thought lost for a time, it has returned. What new clues will you find, and what new bosses might you face…
The Unknown Island has had a full revamp and will soon be ready for players to travel to the island. All existing Unknown Tickets and Tokens will be honored, and can be reached through its new home in the Head Hunters Guild’s Hideout at the Event Hub! (Simply use the Tour Guide at /warp eh if you get lost!)
Along with new rares, new jukeboxes and gear, who knows what you’ll find on this Angelic Adventure. A rework is slowly in progress for the Forgotten Temple as well, however we do not have an ETA on that at this time.
