2024 HelloMiners Summer Olympic Games

The 2024 Summer Olympics are finally here, and in good timing with the Paris Olympics right around the corner. These Olympics are to be a server-wide event and hosted in many different locations both government-owned and private-owned. Here is rundown of the events:

Summer Olympics Events

Ironball (Greenfort)


Ironball is a 2v2 tournament event which teams will schedule their rounds across July and August with each other. There will eventually be a finals and a third place match.

Tennis (Greenfort)


Tennis is an individual tournament event which athletes will schedule their rounds across July and August with each other. There will eventually be a finals and a third place match.

Red vs. Black/Boxing (Battle Palace)


Boxing is an individual tournament event where boxers try to eliminate their opponent by punching them to death or knocking them off the platform. Athletes will schedule their rounds across July and August with each other. There will eventually be a finals and a third place match.

Obstacle Swimming (Crystal Bay)


Obstacle Swimming is an individual timed event, where athletes swim through openings in the fastest time possible. Athletes can show up to race on July 13-14 and August 10-11 at 11am EDT/ 4pm BST. The three fastest times will earn gold, silver, and bronze, respectively.

Speed Swimming (Greenfort)


Speed Swimming is an individual timed event, where athletes swim 10 laps (700m) in the fastest time possible. Athletes can show up to race on July 13-14 and August 10-11 at 12pm EDT/5pm BST. The three fastest times will earn gold, silver, and bronze, respectively.

Horse Racing (Greenfort)


Horse Racing is an individual timed event, where athletes jockey for 5 laps in the fastest time possible. Athletes can show up to race on July 20-21 and August 17-18 at 11am EDT/ 4pm BST. The three fastest times will earn gold, silver, and bronze, respectively.

Water Boating (Greenfort)


Water Boating is an individual timed event, where athletes jockey for 5 laps in the fastest time possible. Athletes can show up to race on July 20-21 and August 17-18 at 12pm EDT/5pm BST. The three fastest times will earn gold, silver, and bronze, respectively.

Golf (Monson Point)


Golf is an individual scored event, where athletes throw an enderpearl to the green and putt it on carpeted ice into the hole by dropping the pearl. Athletes can show up to golf on July 27-28 and August 24-25 at 11am EDT/ 4pm BST. The three lowest scores will earn gold, silver, and bronze, respectively.

Wipeout (Greenfort)


Wipeout is an individual timed event, where athletes climb, swim, dodge, and jump their way to the finish line in the fastest time possible. Athletes can show up to race on July 20-21 and August 17-18 at 12pm EDT/5pm BST. The three fastest times will earn gold, silver, and bronze, respectively.

We are giving each event that is time-based two opportunities to be hosted- this gives players flexibility in being able to attend at least one of them.

Prizes
The top 3 places for each event will earn an olympic armor set and an olympic medal.

The best city across all events will earn an olympic winner medal.

  • A gold medal is worth 4 points
  • A silver medal is worth 2 points
  • A bronze medal is worth 1 point

Registration
City Owners/Managers must register their cities for the olympics by specifying the events they wish to register for, the dates they plan on attending, and the players they plan to enter.

  • You must submit an approved city.
  • Players must represent the same city across all individual events.
  • Players can play for a different city in team events than they can in individual events.
  • For the events with dates, registration closes the last date available to participate.
  • For ironball, tennis, and boxing, registration closes August 1st.

With the lack of signups at this point in the Games and 0 attendees so far in the last 4 weeks, I will have to shut down the Olympics. Disappointing but necessary with the lack of interest. This is the last time I will ‘try’ to host the Olympics.
